George Diacont, Director

Mr. Diacont joined the PCAOB staff in March 2003 after having served for five years as the Chief Accountant of Nasdaq Listing Investigations. In that capacity, he was responsible for the investigation of issuers who may have engaged in fraudulent practices or other activities contrary to the public interest and the integrity of The Nasdaq Stock Market. Before joining Nasdaq, Mr. Diacont spent more than 20 years as a member of the staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission, serving in a number of responsible positions. During that time, Mr. Diacont was appointed Acting Chief Accountant of the Commission, a position he filled for one year. In that capacity, Mr. Diacont was responsible for the formulation of accounting policy affecting public companies, the oversight of the accounting and auditing standard-setting organizations and the development of enforcement policy with respect to accountants and accounting issues. Mr. Diacont was subsequently appointed Chief Accountant of the Division of Enforcement of the Commission, where he served for five years as the highest-ranking accounting official responsible for investigations, litigation and criminal prosecution in connection with the financial fraud program and actions against accountants.
